Results 2000/2001 Season
The last night of the season and we played individual duplicate bridge. The winner of the evening should be the person that understood what we were doing and could work out quickly were to go. As this is not quantifiable we will be guided by the bridge scoring for the results. Well done Dianne you remain top for longer than anyone else. Resume bridge in the autumn.

14.2.01 , 21.02.01 28.2.01 - These were played at Rosa & Kens house and very comfortable it was to. I am afraid I do not have the results.

Only one small slam bid tonight and that went two down. I think it is as well if we do not play with our partners too often as I heard more terse comments than usual, will we get full numbers next week I wonder? It Would appear that Wendy & Bruce practiced together on holiday - well done to them

5 pairs tonight, not an ideal number. We played normal duplicate bridge which meant a half table. Each hand was played only twice so you got a top or bottom or honours we shared. The results were:
54 Ken & Simeon
52 Peter & Betty
47 Hazel & Ray
46 Jenny & Dianne
41 Robin & David

24.1.01
Only 8 persons today so we played a match Ladies v Men. At half time the ladies had a small lead but in the second half they made more of a mess than the men on some very tricky hands. How often do you get a trump break against you 5 - 0 well we had it twice running. As a result the men won.

Wed 10 Jan 2001
The biggest mistake to date! Having defeated the opposition 4 down redoubled vulnerable the score o0f 4000 points was given to the opponents making a total error of 8,000 points. Just as well the scorer was also the potential loser.
80 Liz & Margaret
79 Diane & Sue
70 Peter & Ray
64 Betty & Jackie
63 Robin & Bruce
55 Hazel & David
53 Peter H & Val

Wed 3.1.01
The play was a little slow and we decided to miss the last round which upsets the scoring a little. The hands were interesting and if we hadn't dealt them on the night I would have guessed that they had been fixed.
1 - 99 - Betty & Ray
2 - 91 - Paul & Jennie + Sheila & Steve
4 - 82 - Robin & Diane
5 - 80 - Peter & Val
6 - 70 - David & Hazel + Wendy & Bruce
8 - 65 - Margaret & Peter

Wed 19th December
Firstly a special thank you to Wendy for making the numbers up to 20, at the last moment.
The evenings overall winner must be Liz who came joint first at the wine tasting and joint second at the bridge
The winners of the wine tasting competition were Robin & Liz who both scored only 5 correct. Clearly more practice is needed by everyone!
We have a clear cards winner and that is Peter Bowles. He was the only person to score more than 70 points (and he was tucking into the wine like everyone else).
73 Peter B
65 Liz & Peter H
62 Diane & Jackie
60 Ray
57 Val
55 Betty, Margaret & Paul
51 Ken
Less than 50 Robin, Hazel, Jennie, David, Rosa, Sue, Bruce, Sheila & Wendy
The scores are really a work of fiction and are calculated just to get a winner. If anyone wishes to dispute the scores I concede their point and ask them to correct all the scores- they will then come across the difficulties. Because the writing was sometimes difficult to read some scores have been credited to the wrong player and to prove the point, we had scores for players X & N although no-one was allocated these letters!
I hope you enjoyed the evening and, as well as wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Wed 5th December
Once again the scores are very close. I have spotted two scores which I think are wrong but I have counted the score as entered. N/S has the wrong pair entered but changing the score will not affect the positions.

Wed 29th November
It was too noisy, how can we concentrate? As one of the main perpetrators of the noise that is not my concern! We will have to go back to loud whispers only please. Well done to the winners this week because last time they played together they were bottom (25/10)
1 Ken & Bruce
2 Sheila & Ray
3 Peter Bairstow & Sue
4 Betty & Liz

Wed 1st November
Just three tables, A nice quiet orderly atmosphere with not too many hands to play.. Played 18 hands and finished at 11pm. The last person to come top two weeks running is bottom this week! Robin has now been top twice running - can he make it three weeks in a row? The results are particularly close this week - note how close the top three are

Expected 5.5 tables but 4.5 tables played. A quieter atmosphere which improved the evening although it is a bit rushed with this type of movement. Lots of pairs bid and made the small slams but no one bid the grand slams. Generally well bid. 18 hands which finished at 11.15.
