13.  Pitched Roof

With the brickwork of the hall sides completed, except for the gable end, work commences on the pitched roof.

Wood was delivered for the roof construction and lifted by small crane into position.

A much larger crane came on site to lift the preformed joists.

Carpenters worked long hours cutting and forming the beams.  The velox window openings can be  seen.

From inside the hall the intricate web of beams appears.
