3 Site Preparation

After the demolition rubble had been removed, ground workers with new earth moving equipment arrived to begin the task of preparing the site for the foundations of the new hall.

A deep trench was dug along the western boundary and across the rear of the site. This will contain the new gas supply to the hall.

Surplus soil from the levelling process was heaped at the rear of the site.

Old asbestos rubble was sealed and buried under the hall footprint as specified by the Environmental Agency.

A temporary roof to prevent water seepage was built over the exposed undercroft meeting room.
